Upcoming Exhibition: The Faces of Waves at Comber St Studios, Paddington NSW (30 Aug - 8 Sep 2024)

I'm bringing a selection of new works to Eora / Sydney this August-September, inspired by the ever-changing and forever-entrancing Tasman sea.

"Thalassa" 2024

Based on the east coast of lutruwita/Tasmania, Kerri Kennewell derives inspiration for her bold, lyrical acrylic canvases from her surrounding environment, capturing the character and vivacity of the rolling swells of the Tasman sea.

​Her current Waves series celebrates the unbridled power and beauty of the ocean and tidal processes, making a record of the formation and cycle of a swell, a wave, capturing a fleeting moment in the life of an ocean increasingly vulnerable to the influence of humanity. The action of waves frozen in time becomes almost hypnotic, a repetition wherein to dwell upon questions of life, originating in the saline depths of primordial seas, and upon which we continue to rely as a species, ignoring to our collective peril.
